Program Ages Requirements

Parents and guardians must ensure that their child meet the ages requirements. York Sports Academy programs are offered to children and student-athletes ages 5 to 18 years old. Additionally, it is expected that children are fully potty trained and have acquired a level of comprehension and maturity. We are neither a daycare nor a day camp. York Sports Academy is a competitive sports and athletic training academy focusing on developing, advancing and pushing athleticism to next level for children, youth and student-athletes who are interested in:

  • Exploring, discovering, and experiencing multiple sports.
  • Developing co-athletics and cross-athletics abilities, agilities and comprehension.
  • Improving, advancing, and maturing sports and athletics IQ
  • Transferring acquired sports and athletics skills to academics advancement

Registration, Dates and Fees

It is mandatory that parents and guardians properly register their child or student-athlete, fill-out and sign the waiver form. Please click HERE for York Sports Academy Registration Form and Waiver Form. All outstanding paperwork must be completed before the first day of program.

For our summer program, weekly or monthly registration is accepted. However, we strongly remind and recommend parents/guardians that full summer program participation to York Sports Academy is the best cost saving option. Full summer enrollment also will assist your child to fully discover his/her athletic potentials and sports of choice, along with the disciplines of:

  1. Martial Arts and Self-Defense
  2. Basketball
  3. Track and Field
  4. Football
  5. Soccer

York Sports Academy summer programs focus on discovering and exploring multiple sports, which are otherwise extremely difficult for children and youth to participate into due academic scheduling. It is the best options for children, youth and student-athletes to experience new sports, advance their athletics IQ, test their abilities, agilities while acquire new one. Full summer enrollment also will assist your child to fully discover his/her athletic potentials and sports of choice, along with the disciplines required.

Athletic Attire Code

York Sports Academy strongly emphasizes on Safety First for each child, youth and student-athletes. Parents/guardians are required to make sure their children and student-athletes wear York Sports Academy athletic apparel (T-Shirt and Short) for the duration of our program. This will allow us to properly monitor and supervise the children, youth and student-athletes in our care during all training and activities, whether indoor or outdoor.

  • Upon registration (or on the first day of training, during our welcome ceremony) each child and student-athlete will receive a York Academy Branded T-Shirt and Short.
  • Children, youth and student-athletes must wear York Sports Academy athletic apparel
  • As we strongly pushing hard for respect, disciplines and responsibilities, parents or guardians will be contacted if a participant arrives without his/her proper athletic attire.
  • Athletic attire must be kept clean for good hygiene
  • All children and student-athletes must wear closed-toed athletic shoes.

From time to time, weather conditions may change. Therefore, we strongly encourage parents/guardians to provide their child with necessary/appropriate clothing.

Children/Student-Athletes Arrival and Pickup Procedures

Arrival and Sign-in procedure

  1. All children and student-athletes are recommended to arrive by 9:00 AM. Doors open at 8:30 AM
  2. Children and student-athlete under the ages of 12 must always be in their parents/guardians companies for sign-in.
  3. Parents/Guardians may allow their student-athletes to sign themselves in to the program, and do not need to accompany them to the sign-in location, if they are 12 years old and older.
  4. By authorizing self-sign-in, parents/guardians are providing official consent to York Sports Academy of the acceptance of their child at the beginning of each program day.
  5. On the first day of training, children and student-athletes must be accompanied by a parent or guardian with all necessary signed paperwork, if having done so prior.
  6. Hard copy or electronic registration confirmations are recommended at sign-in on the first day.

If arriving late, parents/guardians must follow the "Late Drop-Off" procedures.

Pickup and Sign-out procedure

  1. Self-sign-out: Children and student-athletes, 12 years old and older, who have been authorized by their parents or guardians to sign themselves out at the end of program day.
  2. Children and student-athletes designated self-sign-out will begin being dismissed from the designated sign-in/out location at 4:45pm each day of program.
  3. By authorizing self-sign-out, parents/guardians are providing official consent to York Sports Academy of the release of their child at the end of each program day.
  4. Authorized individual sign-out: Children and student-athletes will only be released to authorized persons for pick-up at the end of program day.
  5. Government-issued photo ID is required by authorized individuals, and will need to be presented to York Sports Academy staff at the end of each day.
  6. Participants will only be released from York Sports Academy to authorized individuals with government-issued photo ID.

York Sports Academy Programs end 5:00 pm each day. If the authorized individual will be late for pick-up, please follow the "Late Pick-Up" procedure.

Late drop-off

It is the responsibility of all parents, guardians, families or registrants to contact York Sports Academy to inform if your child/student-athlete will be absent, late or picked up early. If your child/student-athlete is arriving after 9 am, parents, guardians, or families along with their child/student-athlete must ensure to notify their arrival to one of York Sports Academy coaches, trainers, staff or personnel

Late Pick-Up

Except for extenuating circumstances, children/student-athletes must be picked up and vacant training premises at 5:00 PM Monday to Friday. Children/student-athletes who have not been picked up by 5:05 pm will be relocated to security with one of York Sports Academy administration staff to be signed out. Late pick-up penalty will be applied. For continuing infractions, Children/student-athletes may be asked to withdraw from the programs.

Early Pick-Up

In the event that a child/student-athlete needs to leave early, parents/guardians or registrants can inform York Sports Academy team members in the morning when dropping off their child/student-athlete. Families picking their children/student-athletes up early are to go to York Sports Academy designated pick-up area, which is located in the lower level of the facility at the requested pick-up time. One of York Sports Academy personnel will bring the child/student-athlete accordingly. Pick-up sign-out policy will apply at the time of pick-up.

General Behavioural Expectations

Children, youth, student-athletes, families, parents or guardians are expected to conduct themselves in a mature, respectful, compassionate and cooperative manner while attending York Sports Academy. York Sports Academy is an extremely competitive sports and athletic training academy. Emotions from student-athletes, as well as from parents/guardians will be high at time. However, children, student-athletes, families, parents or guardians, as well as our coaches, trainers, administrators, staff and personnel shall remain professional, compassionate, respectful and positive role models to one another. We will go beyond the call of duty to assist children and student-athlete. As a matter of facts, our sports and athletic program are designed to address and support the social, emotional, physical and positive lifestyle-driven habit, as well to address bullying prevention and conflict resolution strategies. In fact York Sports Academy programs help to channel emotions and challenges in the utmost compassionate, respectful and positive manners.

Actions or behaviours resulting in an increased risk to self or others are categorized as Inappropriate Behaviour, including:

  • Threats, bullying, harassment, intimidation, abuse or fighting
  • Being under the influence or in the possession of drugs or alcohol
  • Vandalizing or abusing training equipment or possession or use of tobacco or tobacco products
  • Disregarding York Sports Academy rules and policies
  • Possession or use of weapons or harmful objects

Please contact York Sports Academy personnel or discuss with one of our coaches or trainers, if your child or student-athlete attending York Sports Academy programs reports an experience of any form of discrimination and/or harassment during the course of their athletic journey. Behaviour that is deemed unacceptable may result in expulsion from York Sports Academy.

NOTE: No refund will be given to any children or student-athlete who has been removed from York Sports Academy due to inappropriate behaviour.

Vandalism and Theft

  • Parents/guardians of children/student-athletes involved in any theft, loss of, or damage to York Sports Academy, or third-party property will be held financially responsible. All instances of vandalism to or theft of property will be reported to authority accordingly.
  • Valuables (tablets, gaming devices, jewelry, etc.) are to be left at home.
  • York Sports Academy is not responsible for any damage, loss or theft of personal items brought to training programs.

  • York Sports Academy maintains the utmost highest standards regarding recruiting coaches, trainers, staff and personnel to deliver efficiently the utmost highly conveniently needed innovative and competitive sports and athletic experiences, programs and services to children and student-athletes.
  • York Sports Academy seeks out for accredited committed, connected, coachable, collaborative, and sports experts, who have, and will continuously, demonstrated exceptional interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills; have sound understanding of functional systems and current best practices in their respective sports and athletics fields, a passion for coaching as well progressively seek out the best outcomes for each child and student-athlete, in order to continuously achieve and maintain higher expectations, achievements and successes.
  • York Sports Academy holds a very mix of talented, successful, and creative list of sports and athletic coaches and trainers comprising of former and current professional athletes from top professional sports leagues in Canada & USA, as well as some of the best high school, college and university varsity athletes.

NOTE: All York Sports Academy coaches and trainers have valid Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.

Parents/Guardians Code of Conduct

York Sports Academy is committed to establishing a partnership with each child and student-athlete’s parent, guardian and family based on mutual respect in order to ensure that each child and student-athlete reaches their full potentials at York Sports Academy training programs. This partnership includes rights and responsibilities for York Sports Academy staff and children and student-athletes’ parents, guardians and family members. York Sports Academy strives to foster a positive community where all feel safe, and all are indeed safe. York Sports Academy Parents/Guardian Code of Conduct is based on mutual respect, understanding, professionalism, integrity, sincerity and above all patience.

Refund and Cancellation Policies

To cancel your registration and be eligible for a refund, York Sports Academy requires notice of cancellation one month (1) prior to programs commencement. Cancellations may be submitted via e-mail, phone, or in person. A 35%, plus any applicable service costs if any, will be retained from the registered program fee. Refunds for those who have paid by cash, cheque, money order, debit card, or direct deposit are issued directly to the payee in the form of a cheque or debit refund. Refunds may be processed in person by presenting the corresponding method used in the initial transaction, by scheduling a date and time to meet with York Sports Academy personnel. Refunds for payments made by VISA or MasterCard are credited to the account number of the credit card used to pay for the registered program fees.

NOTE: Any child/student-athlete suspended or expelled from York Sports Academy is not eligible for a refund.

Cancellation Policy

York Sports Academy reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or combine its summer sports and athletic programs, to limit registrations, alter training programs, instructors, leaders, dates and/or times. Parents/guardians or registrants will be notified of changes by email before the start date. Full refunds are issued for York Sports Academy cancelled or rescheduled programs. Refund for cancelled or rescheduled programs may be prorated.

Food, Allergy and Dietary Concerns

Food

Children/student-athletes are expected to arrive each day with one (1) healthy lunch and two (2) healthy snacks. Healthy lunch and snacks are mandatory, as our programs are designed to be age-appropriate, extremely competitive, vigorous and energetic. Each day, children and student-athletes will have a morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack. Plenty of water, juices or fluid is imperatively recommended in order to keep children and student-athletes fully hydrated and healthy.

Allergy Concerns

For the sake of all children and student-athletes’ safety, York Sports Academy strongly encourages and recommends to refrain from bringing nut products to the training facilities. York Sports Academy training facilities are open premises; thus, York Sports Academy cannot guarantee that there will be no exposure to nut products while at programs. Children and student-athletes with peanut or other allergies will be required to wear a wristband during participation.

Medical Concerns

York Sports Academy is open to all passion-driven children and youth, who aspire to have fun, enjoy overcoming challenges, participate in organized sports and become great student-athletes in the sport(s) of their choice. We do understanding medical concerns, at time, maybe deterrents to children, youth and future athletes. We will ensure to support, encourage, as well as modify if necessary our training models and strategies to support children, youth and student-athletes who have medical concerns. Children, youth and student-athletes with medial concerns will be required to wear a wristband during participation.

NOTE: Parents and guardians shall use their intuition regarding their children and student-athletes’ medical concerns and how York Sports Academy programs may or may not be suitable.

Absences

It is the responsibility of all parents/guardians to courteously contact York Sports Academy via email or phone to inform our team if their children/student-athletes will be absent. If a parent/guardian does not contact us prior to 9 am on the day the child/student-athlete is absent, York Sports Academy administration team will follow-up with the family.
